Microsoft Azure, Understanding Different Cloud Concepts

Signing Out + Notifications- Introduction to Microsoft Azure

The Signing Out + Notifications pane (shown in Figure 9.30) allows you to manage pop- up notifications and session timeouts.

The Signing Out section (shown in Figure 9.31) helps protect resources from unauthorized access. After a user has been idle for a given period of time, they will be automatically signed out of the Azure portal. You can change the duration by using the Hour and Minutes boxes and clicking Apply. Note that an administrator in the Global Administrator role can override the idle time by enforcing a maximum idle time. This inactivity timeout setting will be applied at the directory level.

Summary

In this chapter, I explained the basics of using cloud- based resources like IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. We then explored the various components of Azure, and I discussed some of the benefits and features of Azure.

I then introduced you to the Azure dashboard. We went through many of the different sections that are included in the Azure dashboard.

As I noted earlier, this chapter did not cover specific exam objectives, but the exam will include questions about the different types of services (e.g., IaaS, PaaS, & SaaS) and what they do. So even though there are no objectives listed, you will get questions about these topics.

Exam Essentials

Understand the features of Azure AD. Make sure that you understand the features and benefits of using Azure. This is important not only for taking the Microsoft exams, but it is also important to determine if Azure is the correct choice for your organization.

Understand the basic cloud concepts. This is very important for many reasons. First, and most obvious, is to understand what Azure can do and not do when it comes to the Microsoft exam. Second, you need to make sure that Azure can handle all the services that your organization is trying to achieve. It is essential to understand how IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS can help your organization. Knowing the benefits of these cloud concepts will ensure that you make the right decision for your organization.

Know how to use the Azure dashboard. You need to understand the Azure dashboard and where you set the different components for Azure. You also need to know how to access other dashboards (like the Azure AD Identity Protection dashboard) so that you can properly navigate Azure AD and its features.
