Configuring the Azure Portal Settings- Introduction to Microsoft Azure

As an Azure administrator, you also have the ability to modify the default settings of the Azure portal. Most of the settings that you can change can be found in the Settings menu (shown as a spoke), which is at the top- right of the global pane header, as shown in Figure 9.20.

You’ll see several options. These settings include Directories + Subscriptions, Appearance + Startup Views, Language + Region, My Information, and Signing Out + Notifications.

Directories + Subscriptions

As an Azure administrator, you have the ability to manage your directories and set subscription filters by using the Directories + Subscriptions pane. The Startup directory will show you the default directory that you will see when you are signed into the Azure portal. If you want to choose a different startup directory, then go to the Appearance + Startup Views page (this will be covered in the next section).

Select All Directories if you want to see a complete list of directories that you have access to. If you want to select a directory as a favorite, then click the star icon to the left of the name. Any directory that has been marked a favorite will be listed in the Favorites section.

If you want to switch to a different directory, select the directory that you want and then click the Switch button next to it, as shown in Figure 9.21.

You can also select the subscriptions that are filtered by default when you sign onto the Azure portal using the Directories + Subscriptions page. Select Advanced Filters (as shown in Figure 9.22) if you wish to customize filters. You will see a confirmation pop-u p before continuing. You can then create, modify, or delete subscription filters on the Advanced Filters page (as shown in Figure 9.23).

To create a new filter, click the Create A Filter option (shown in Figure 9.24). You can create up to 10 filters, each with a unique name that is between 8 and 50 characters long and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens.

Once you have named the filter, you will need to enter at least one condition. From the Filter Type field, select Subscription Name, Subscription ID, or Subscription State and then select an operator and enter a value (see Figure 9.25).

You can also create, modify, and delete filters. To create a filter, select Create. The filter will appear in the Active Filters list. If you want to modify or rename an existing filter, click the pencil icon next to the filter. Make your changes and then click Apply. To delete a filter, click the Delete icon (trash can) next to the filter. You cannot delete the default filter or any filter that is currently being used.
